When she was 12 and bored over a summer vacation spent on her grandparents’ NC farm and looking for something to do, Tampathia dug out her grandmother’s old Singer and promptly jammed it up sending it to the shop and her sewing aspirations on hiatus for a bit. Undeterred, she continued sewing and over the years developed an expertise and a real passion for it. Eventually she was sewing everything from wedding dresses to slipcovers. A few years ago she took up quilting and like so many other hobbies turned into small businesses started making quilts for family and friends and as interest grew decided to offer her quilts online. “I use 100% certified organic cotton not only because it’s Earth-friendly and healthier for adults and little ones but also better for the farmers who grow it.” Bunch & Rosa takes a traditional handicraft and re-imagines it for the contemporary home using time-honored quilting techniques to create fresh designs inspired by classic quilt patterns. “I love modern quilts for their clean lines and symmetry and that they can work in a variety of interiors.”
Bunch and Rosa combine traditional techniques with modern design to create quilts for little ones that are sure to become keepsakes. Each quilt top is cut, pieced, assembled and then densely quilted by machine. The quilting and the hand-sewn binding ensures that the quilt is securely bound and will withstand regular everyday use.
