Coming from a family of Venezuelan artists, surprising it was taking a figure-drawing class in college that finally first ignited Jo Diquez’s passion for art. Sure, she had been around it her whole life (her grandmother is an artist and owned a gallery) and had always been encouraged to draw and paint, but it wasn’t until she moved from Venezuela to the U.S. to study fashion design and marketing (she holds a B.F.A. in both) that her interest was piqued. Putting her obsession with color to good use, Jo began experimenting with acrylic paints, canvas and her trusty ruler. The results are stunning geometric pieces that would make her artistic family proud...and our walls prettier.
ORIGINAL ABSTRACT PAINTING 2
Bold lines and shapes make this Jo Diquez piece a real statement, but touches of pink and purple appeal to our feminine side.
It was Jo Diquezs obsession with color that led her to the acrylic-paint section at her local crafts store. When she began mixing the brightly pigmented paints and creating unique textures and geometric shapes on her newly bought canvas, she knew she had found her artistic calling.
