“Making beautiful things makes me happy. ”
“Typically it starts with gathering up my materials on my workbench and playing with the beads, threads and findings until something sticks.”
Why is making handmade goods important to you? My “day job” is as a research scientist and graduate student and I don’t get many opportunities to be creative there. Nor is it beautiful. Making beautiful things makes me happy.
What did you want to be when you grew up? Why? So many things. I think first it was a dancer, then astronaut, then President. I think it’s because even back then I had the makings of an entrepreneur and I wanted to do it all.
Who or what inspires you to do the work that you do? Running a business, building it, growing it, it’s very exciting! It’s also one of the most difficult things I have ever done, but I’ve always been one to pursue the challenging options.
