Meet The Face Behind

A BRIKA maker story

Bethany Helzer

"Much of my work reflects the world of the forgotten, from abandoned buildings and vintage still life shots, to dried flowers and beach glass. "
“Write down all of your ideas. Good or bad. Even a bad idea can evolve into a good idea in the right circumstances.”

“One thing I do everyday without fail is daydream.”

“I wanted to start spending my time doing something that I loved, instead of a job that had become emotionally stressful every day.”

“One thing I do everyday without fail is daydream.”

Bethany Helzer, a.k.a. RiotJane, did not want to be a photographer until her twenties. Having grown up near Detroit, Bethany found herself intrigued by the beautiful and colorful architecture of a city in neglect and felt the desire to document it before it was demolished and disappeared forever. As the driving force she needed to pick up a camera and start shooting, she hasn’t stopped since.

Now a resident of Long Island with the beach right outside her door, the endless supply of beautiful, worn nautical architecture and beach finds have kept have kept her busy documenting her surroundings. “A love for nature and vintage buildings are the inspiration behind my designs,” she says.

I believe…

That everyday should begin with a hot cup of tea and end with a nice red wine.

I love it when…

I happen upon a perfect moment while carrying my camera.

Words I live by are…

“If this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is.” – Kurt Vonnegut

“Being surrounded by beautiful landscapes and stunning architecture changed my life.”
