A talented basket weaver, Spencer Peterman began his career making Nantucket baskets. While attending craft shows, however, he became interested in wood crafting and turning. He started experimenting with woodwork about 15 years ago. With the goal of transforming discarded logs in to objects of function and beauty, Peterman’s Boards & Bowls was born. All of the maple, cherry, and walnut wood Spencer uses is sourced from fallen trees in Western Massachusetts. For Spencer, a freshly fallen tree is always a good thing; he uses wood that has just begun to decompose for his bowls and boards!
