“I feel like forcing a project never works,” says Jen Murse, “You have to start something when an idea strikes you.” That’s why you’ll always find Jen carrying a notebook, making her way to Dolores Park in San Francisco early in the morning (before the crowds!). She loves the fresh air, quiet time and—especially—the break from her computer. Jen started plastique because she wanted to take her digital design skills (which she’d honed at American Apparel) and make something tangible. With most pieces, she starts by sketching her idea. She then scans it, traces it, and tweaks the size and design. From there, she’ll have samples laser-cut before deciding on the final piece.
