Fire & Light originals was founded in 1995 as a partnership between the Arcata Community Recycling Center in Humboldt County, California, and a group of local investors who wanted to come up with a plan to use crushed, recycled glass. Today, with a team of 20 people, Fire & Light Originals is handcrafting giftware and colored glass dinnerware that is distributed to specialty stores and galleries around the country.

The original Fire & Light process was melting the crushed glass in furnaces, adding pigments, and shaping the molten glass into a unique line of colored glass dinnerware. Today, while they still utilize this method, they also strive to find new ways to incorporate recycling into their production process, such as using recycled beer kegs from local microbreweries as vats to cool their ladles. Fire & Light colored glassware represents the unification of age-old craftsmanship and innovative manufacturing, with an enchanting result.
