“When you buy something handmade, you are connecting with the Maker.”
Emmy Trinh always knew her vocation lay in the creative industry. “As a kid, I remember telling my friends that I wanted to run a company and I was going to be the ‘creator’ of that company,” she said. Although she was always drawn to art and design, she opted for the “pragmatic route” and majored in business in school. When family reasons prompted her to take some time off, so arose the opportunity to reflect on the question, “What do I want to be when I grow up?”. Before long, her artistic passion started tugging at her once again. When she found herself in a New York bead shop enamored with a blue agate stone, she asked the storeowner what else was needed to make a necklace. “The foundation for Emmy Trinh Jewelry all started from that piece!” she said.
When it comes to the inspiration behind her pieces, Emmy cites travels, gemstones and objects she finds along the way, but many times, she will just start creating without a blueprint. “Once I design something that I love, I create a sample and get feedback from friends and strangers before putting it into production,” she said. Creating versatile pieces that will integrate into any wardrobe, transcend trends and effortlessly elevate the modern woman’s style, she is certainly fulfilling her creator fate that she predicted as a child.
