“I love it when it’s time to design a new collection. I find myself having ideas for the next collection before releasing the current one! ”
“As an artist, I put my heart and soul into each design.”
What is your design background?
My grandma is a painter so art has always played a huge role in my life. From a young age I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in a creative field, so I took a variety of art classes throughout high school and eventually went on to get a BFA in graphic design from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
Walk us through your production/design process.
Our pieces are created by combining woven glass beads with brass or sterling silver frames. The original pieces are made by hand, then molded and cast. The beading is the final step in making each piece. The beads are hand sewn, one at a time, into a woven fabric using a traditional beading technique called peyote stitch. This woven fabric is then sewn onto its metal frame, which adds both color and texture to each piece!
Who or what inspires you to do the work that you do? Why?
I’m really inspired by other makers. Portland has a huge creative community and it has been such a rewarding experience getting to know so many of them.
