BRIKA DIY: An Afternoon With For the Makers

Uncategorized

A few weeks ago, Jen and I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon getting crafty in Brooklyn with Janet and Katie from For the Makers and a few of our own talented makers. Along with Jane Buck of Foxy & Winston and jewelry designer Deborah Rice, we learned how to create beautiful custom floral accessories (like this brooch or these bobby pins) with supplies from M&S Schmalberg, the oldest maker of fabric flowers in the U.S. How did this lovely "crafternoon" come about?  Well, when we learned about founders Janet and Katie's belief in "making what you want to own", we knew we had to meet.  What better way to make friends than over coffee, treats and craft supplies?  Check out their site for great DIY projects and supplies and plan your own craft party! Want to learn more about For The Makers co-founders Katie and Janet? Find out what inspires them here. A special thank-you to Alex Budman, the talented budding documentary filmmaker who wonderfully captured our crafty afternoon. xo Kena Did you like this story? You’ll probably like these as well!
