DIY Clay Bead Necklace

In the mood for a super simple DIY? A clay bead necklace is a quick project that makes a stylish impact, and rolling the clay is actually kind of therapeutic. This is a great craft to do with a few girlfriends!

  • polymer clay (in whatever colors you desire)
  • toothpick
  • baking sheet
  • wax cord

Step 1: Preheat oven to temperature listed on clay package. Step 2: Cut the clay into squares and roll into beads. Step 3: Use a toothpick to make a hole through the center of the bead. Make sure it's large enough to string onto your wax or suede cord. Step 4: Place beads on baking sheet and bake for as long as specified on clay instructions. Step 5: After beads have cooled, string your necklaces! Tips:
  • Experiment with different bead shapes (square or oblong), sizes, and textures (try using a toothpick to create patterns on the beads).
  • Incorporate other materials such as hex nuts, wooden beads, silver beads, metal chain etc.
