For our June issue, Covet Garden takes a tour of gallerist Paul’s home and gallery space. His downtown living spaces are naturally filled with art, but his style is also influenced by his time spent at the family cottage. That’s what we love about his rooms — they’re a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll.
Paul’s downtown Toronto home features such homey touches as natural wood floors, tons of teak Scandinavian furnishings, and hand loomed rag rugs that suggest a cabin in the woods (the place is also filled with plant life, bring the great outdoors inside).
Even though much of his collection of art and mid century modern furnishings have big city sophistication, many of the pieces that hang on Paul’s walls also suggest landscapes and other classic Canadian themes. Urban and rustic ideas mingle freely in Paul’s world and the result is a vibe that is both unpretentious but exciting at the same time.
Since it’s the season to enjoy cottage times, we’ve taken a page from Paul’s place and selected our city to cottage country finds. (P.S. These would all make great Father’s Day gifts as well!)Artisanal Preserves 2. Etta and Billie Cedarwood Soap 3. Cabin + Cub Canoe Cufflinks 4. McLoveBuddy Pop Duffle Tote 5.
