In our May issue, Covet Garden explores the live/work space of the free spirited artist and shopkeeper Cody. This amazing home is a virtual cabinet of curiosities, filled with vintage and antique finds discovered during Cody’s travels.
Put together, Cody’s collections of Victorian ephemera, Masonic regalia and other bits and pieces from the natural world and industrial age tell a story about our relationship with the past. But the way she puts them together starts another narrative about the future and how we need to invest in objects that are built to last.
There’s also a 19th century, gothic romanticism about Cody’s rooms. The mix of rich color and well-loved furnishings makes us picture a cozy cottage on a windswept moor. Or perhaps an artist’s garret in Belle Epoque Paris. Again, unique objects help spur the imagination!
Inspired by Cody’s space, we’ve assembled a collection of handmade treasures to help you create your own Cabinet of Curiosities.
