Milk and cookies. Wine and cheese. Peanut butter and banana. All of these flavor combinations are virtually universal in their appeal, and for good reason too. The latter being one of our favorites (whoever first decided it was a good idea to pair a nut butter with a humble breakfast fruit, we salute you!), we decided to recreate it in smoothie form and elevate it with a dessert-like twist. The cinnamon and granola save the day in that respect, the granola giving this smoothie an added thickness in that you could practically chew your way through it. Plus, fiber, omega fats and protein are just a few of the health benefits of the added chia seeds and hemp hearts, so, health! The key to this recipe is the frozen banana. If you haven’t planned ahead you can certainly get away with throwing in a ripe banana and a couple ice cubes, but we can’t guarantee that it will have the same smooth, soft serve-y consistency. This breakfast on the go is creamy, cold, filling and flavorful—need we say more? Make this tomorrow morning! Makes one serving What you need: 1 frozen banana ½ cup milk (can be whatever type of your choosing, chocolate if you’re feeling ultra indulgent) ¼ cup vanilla yogurt 1 tbsp chia seeds 1 tbsp hemp hearts 1 tbsp peanut butter 2 tbsp granola-type cereal (we used Morning Crisp) 1 tsp cinnamon Directions Toss all ingredients into a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Enjoy!
