Sometimes being solo isn’t so bad. After eight years of designing leather goods for other big fashion companies, Mariah broke out on her own — and hasn’t looked back. Coming from a creative family (and with childhood dreams of becoming an architect), it’s not surprising that Mariah has made a life of making for herself.

Discovering that designing houses was too structured for her artistic strengths, she decided to study business and fashion design at college instead, and immediately knew she’d found her place. All her leather purses are hand cut, sewn and finished in her small Portland-based studio, proving that sometimes your own company truly is the best company.
