Bethany and Jenna Mallett
When a single family has an illustrator and fashion designer within its ranks, it shouldn’t come as much of a shock that they’d one day join forces and collaborate. Sisters Bethany and Jenna are creative forces in their own right (and industries), but when they come together to make, magic happens.
Ortolan is the result of this partnership, and their handmade house linens and accessories are the beautiful byproducts. What started five years ago as an after-work project to make handcrafted printed tote bags and table linens as gifts for family and friends has grown to the full selection of witty and whimsical pillows, tea towels and napkins we see today.
"Jenna and I have a constant evolving inspiration board of ideas, fabrics and color chips to try...sometimes it's a total surprise which designs end up being our favorites!"
"Quality craftsmanship is something we learned from watching our father build beautiful things with his hands. It's a part of our genetic makeup.” - Jenna.
"We also believe in keeping an old-fashioned approach to the way we craft. You will never get the rich look of hand screen-printing with a digital replication of the same design.” - Bethany
