Betsy Olmsted
Sometimes taking baby steps is the smartest way to build a successful small business. Motivated by the desire to be present for her young family (Betsy is married with two small boys) and determined to be her own boss, this maker/mom did her research and experimented with designs and products until she found the sweet spot and launched her own home accessories line.
With patience, persistence and whole lot of talent (she has a BS in fine arts and a MS in textiles), Betsy’s been able to set up a pretty sweet life for herself and her family, proving small actions really can add up to big accomplishments.
"Because of my desire to spend time with my children, I was determined to make a successful business for myself rather than work for a larger company."
"My products are inspired by the concept of localism from motif to production."
"I wanted to be a naturalist. I loved foraging through the woods and collecting this and that. Now these are the things that inspire my designs."
