Wee Gallery
What do you get when you combine teaching, zoology, graphic design and parenthood? Wee Gallery’s creative cast of black-and-white creatures, that’s what. After the birth of their first child eight years ago, this husband and wife duo discovered there was very little in the way of hand-drawn graphics for babies — and they decided to do something about that.
Whether it’s monkeys, foxes or penguins, Surya draws each stylized animal by hand; the repeating patterns and contrasting colors stimulate babies’ brains, while the non-toxic inks and recycled paper calm parents’ minds. But it’s this family’s passion and drive to create child-focused art that’s the real winning combo here.
"I have a science degree in chemistry, botany and zoology, but I always wanted to go to art school...I joined an advertising agency as an intern, and never looked back."
"There's something intimate and special about a handmade item. It contains the heart and soul of the maker."
"Every morning I check my daily blogs and am blown away by the amazing artists that make clever and beautiful things every single day. It inspires me to keep on making."
